Bon Iver Announces “Towers” Single, John Prine Cover to Serve as B-Side

4 Jan

Continuing the success of his highly praised eponymous second studio album, which was ournumber one album of the year, Bon Iver has announced that the third single from the album, following “Holocene” and “Calgary,” will be “Towers.” The song will be released as a 12″ and digitally on January 23rd via 4AD, and will feature a cover of John Prine’s “Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow)” as a b-side. The b-side was originally featured on a John Prine tribute album back in 2010, but was done solely by Justin Vernon. It is unclear whether this will act as the b-side, or if, this time around, Vernon has the backing of the entire Bon Iver band. Either way, you can listen to the original cover below, courtesy of Listen Before You Buy, and look forward to the release of the “Towers” single on January 23rd.
